Allegro MicroSystems introduces the first ASIL C safety class magnetic field current sensor for electric vehicle powertrain

Allegro MicroSystems (NASDAQ stock code: ALGM) (hereinafter referred to as Allegro), the world's leading manufacturer of motion control and energy saving system sensing technology and power semiconductor solutions, announced the launch of the magnetic field current sensor ACS37601 sample, which has reached ASIL C safety level and has high accuracy and better accuracy of the same kind, and can be used for power traction, auxiliary inverter and battery management system (BMS) in electric vehicles (EV).

For the design of today's and next-generation inverters and battery management systems, engineers are faced with huge challenges, and need to achieve higher safety objectives according to the new requirements of the safety integrity level (ASIL) of vehicles.

In order to enable customers to meet these new safety requirements, improve system efficiency and extend battery life, Allegro has developed ACS37601 programmable linear Hall effect current sensor IC, which has overcurrent, overheat protection and self-test functions. The design objective of ACS37601 is to achieve high-precision and high-resolution sensing without affecting the bandwidth. It is Allegro's magnetic field current sensor with the highest accuracy and is suitable for applications with measuring current greater than 200A.

ACS37601 can be used with C-core. It is the first magnetic field current sensor to reach ASIL C level. It can achieve sensitivity error of 0.8% and offset error of less than 5mV in the whole vehicle temperature range. Compared with the original device, the noise is reduced by 30%. It is an ideal choice for battery management applications. ACS37601 has high working bandwidth from DC to 240 kHz and 2 μ The fast response time of s can make DC battery charging and high-frequency automotive inverter achieve higher performance. ACS37601 uses 5V or 3.3V power supply, which can support the use of the most advanced microprocessor without other additional components.

In order to help designers realize the most advanced battery management and inverter system in line with ASIL standards, the ACS37601 sample is currently provided in a very thin (1 mm thick), 4-pin single-plug in-line package (SIP) (called KT package). KT package has linear pin (suffix TN) and lead forming option (suffix TH), which can support surface mount assembly and has high resistance to mechanical vibration. ACS37601 package does not contain lead (Pb), and adopts 100% fog tin electroplating lead frame.
