Nordic Expands nRF70 Series to Launch nRF7001 Wi Fi 6 Collaborative IC

The nRF70 series Wi Fi 6 collaborative IC provides robust and secure low-power Wi Fi connections, as well as Wi Fi assisted localization based on Service Set Identifier (SSID) scanning.

Designed for Nordic SoC and SiP

Both nRF7001 collaborative IC and nRF7002 can compete with Nordic's award-winning nRF52 ® And nRF53 ® Series Multi Protocol System Level (SoC) and nRF9160 ™ Used together with cellular IoT (LTE-M/NB IoT) system level packaging (SiP) products. It can also be used with non Nordic host devices.

The nRF7001 collaborative IC supports Station (STA), Software Analog Access Point (SoftAP), and Wi Fi Direct operations, and complies with IEEE 802.11b, g, n ("Wi Fi 4"), and ax ("Wi Fi 6") standards. This product can also be compatible with low-power Bluetooth ® Low Energy, Thread, and Zigbee coexist. NRF7001 supports a key Wi Fi 6 power saving feature - Target Wake Up Time (TWT), which is connected to nRF52840 or another host processor through a Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) or Quad SPI (QSPI). NRF7001 provides a single spatial stream, 20 MHz channel bandwidth, 64 QAM (MCS7), OFDMA, up to 86 Mbps PHY throughput, and BSS coloring.

Simplify development work

Nordic provides a scalable unified software development kit called nRF Connect SDK, allowing designers who use the company's wireless devices to construct products to quickly and easily launch nRF7001 based design projects. To use nRF7001 for product development, you can use the nRF7002 Development Kit (DK), as the nRF Connect SDK supports simulating nRF7001 ICs on this kit. By using nRF7001 collaborative IC, nRF7002 DK, and nRF Connect SDK, designers can easily add 2.4 GHz Wi Fi functionality to their products, making it easy to connect to nRF cloud services and communicate with other devices through Wi Fi networks.
