Infineon launches high-power LED drivers specifically designed for car headlights
LED car headlights can achieve energy efficiency and support new car lamp designs and applications such as matrix beams and laser high beams. Infineon Technology Co., Ltd. (FSE: IFX/OTCQX: IFNNY) provides strong support for the advancement of automotive lighting technology, launching high-power LED drivers specifically designed for automotive headlights, which belong to two product families: LITIX Power Flex and LITIX Power. These devices provide flexible DC/DC drive solutions for designing LED systems with power levels up to 50 W or even higher. The application design of this device is flexible and variable, including a lamp string with a voltage of up to 55 V and composed of numerous medium power LEDs, or a lighting device composed of a small amount of LEDs with a current of up to 3 A or higher.
The two LED drivers, LITIX Power Flex TLD5541-1QV and LITIX Power TLD5190QV, are perfect for high-power and high current LED applications. This includes car headlights, laser and LED headlights, among others. In addition, as high-efficiency power sources, they are also very suitable for LED applications powered by batteries. Furthermore, they also contribute to the design of cost saving all LED car headlights, including economical all LED headlights that can be installed in narrow spaces such as motorcycle handlebars.
LITIX Power Flex TLD5541-1QV helps maximize LED system efficiency
TLD5541-1QV is the first product of the new multi topology DC/DC controller series LITIX Power Flex. The synchronous H-bridge DC/DC controller is an ideal choice for driving various high-power LED devices, with a maximum system efficiency of over 92%. This can improve system reliability, improve thermal performance, and reduce PCB size. Thanks to optimized switching frequency and expanded adjustable range, TLD5541-1QV helps reduce EMC radiation and meets strict EMC requirements such as CISPR 25 class 5.
TLD5541-1QV has seamless step-down boost regulation and fast dynamic load jump performance. Therefore, it can rely on comprehensive protection and diagnostic functions to help achieve cost saving LED headlight design. A TLD5541-1QV can drive two or more LED loads using separate switches on a lamp string with a voltage of up to 55 V. The current accuracy specification value of LED reaches+/-3%.
The TLD5541-1QV is equipped with built-in protection function and SPI interface, which can achieve analog and digital (PWM) dimming. The switching frequency can be adjusted in the range of 200 kHz to 700 kHz. The adjustable soft start function can limit the peak current and voltage overshoot during startup.
The LITIX Power series DC/DC converters and controllers are designed for mid to high power applications, including LED daytime running lights, LED low beam and high beam lights, etc. The new member of this product series, TLD5190QV, is a synchronous H-bridge DC/DC controller with functions similar to TLD5541-1QV. It does not have an SPI interface, making it particularly suitable for LED controlled electronic devices without the need for microcontrollers, while also making it easier to implement. In addition, it also provides integrated protection functions, analog and digital (PWM) dimming functions, and supports adjustable switching frequencies ranging from 200 kHz to 700 kHz.
Supply and Packaging
The synchronous H-bridge DC/DC controller TLD5541-1QV TLD5190QV has been mass-produced and packaged in VQFN-48. Both LED drivers are suitable for harsh automotive environments and meet the specifications of AEC-Q100. Infineon provides demonstration boards, datasheets, and PSpice simulation models to support application design.
