InnoSwitch3-AQ has now launched a 900V PowiGaN switch that can provide up to 100W of output power in electric vehicles
InnoSwitch3-AQ flyback switch ICs that comply with the AEC-Q100 standard now offer the 900V gallium nitride (GaN) option. The new device adopts PI's PowiGaN technology, which can provide up to 100W of power, with an efficiency of over 93%, and does not require heat dissipation fins. Greater power and higher design margin are particularly suitable for replacing 12V batteries in electric vehicles based on 400V bus systems.
Electric vehicle manufacturers are optimizing their 400V systems and redesigning various power converters in vehicles, such as traction inverters, on-board chargers, and emergency power supplies. The 900V PowiGaN switch can easily handle inductive noise spikes, with a working voltage as low as 30VDC, enabling the system to meet the functional safety requirements of active discharge.
All InnoSwitch3-AQ devices have synchronous rectification control, discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) with valley opening, and continuous conduction mode (CCM) flyback controllers. FluxLink communication technology allows IC packaging to be located on safety isolation belts, eliminating optocouplers and improving efficiency, thereby increasing the range of electric vehicles and improving thermal management.
